Digitalis was founded to improve astronomy education, in particular to address the lack of a portable planetarium able to demonstrate planetary motion or many other important astronomical concepts.

The Digitalis Digitarium Alpha planetarium projector, introduced in November, 2003, provided capabilities previously unavailable to mobile planetaria operators, and was the first truly affordable digital planetarium system.

The next generation Digitarium Alpha 2 was introduced in September, 2006 and the high brightness Digitariumฎ Alpha 2+ in May, 2007. 

At present, Digitalis provides 3 series of Digitarium, i.e., Digitarium Delta, Digitarium Gamma and Digitarium Epsilon.  In addition, Digitalis also provides a series of inflattable dome.

On September 2007, every Digitarium is able to label the sky in Thai, along with other different languages, such as French, Chinese, and Japanese.

Digitarium systems run the free, open source planetarium software called Nightshade. It is a astronomy simulation and visualization software for teaching and exploring astronomy, Earth science, and related topics. Nightshade is based on the award-winning Stellarium software (which Digitalis also helped develop), but specficially tailored for digital planetarium and educator use.
